Quick ideas to help get great effects!

How to have that classic Christmas house with a wreath on every window with falling off a ladder!

I always loved the idea of wreaths on every window during the holidays.

I would drive past grand homes with an evergreen on every window, like something out of a magazine shoot, wanting to do this on my own home. But, ever year, reality sets in, with thoughts of a three floor house, ladders, snow and ice set in which make me regret ever thinking about it.

Until one fateful day.

One day, washing a window, and realizing the top sash of the window came down, my wreath-filled windows became a reality. And all it took was some wire and a small wooden dowel.

I took a small dowel, about 4 inches long and wrapped the end of a 3 foot long piece of floral wire to it. The end was attached to a wreath. I opened the top sash of the window, slid the wreath out from inside the house and shut the window on the wire. The dowel kept the wreath from sliding and falling to the ground.

It worked. Next was a trip to the craft store to buy 7 more wreaths and more dowels.

They were all hung within 20 minutes…and I didn’t have to brave the cold or fall off a ladder to do it!. Even better, when it was time to take it all down, The top window just needed to be opened and the wreath pulled in. Easy peasey!

step 1

Floral wire attached to wreath on one end and wrapped around dowel on the other.

Step 2

Open sash, push wreath through to outside, and close sash with the dowel inside.
